2021 UPDATE: The local NARI chapter has been restructured and is now called PRO Mid-Atlantic, the Professional Remodeling Organization.
Schroeder Design/Build is a long-standing member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and a member of the newly-formed Professional Remodeling Organization (PRO). In fact, joining the Washington D.C. Metro Region chapter of NARI was one of the first things we did when we started our company 35 years ago. This being said, you might wonder, “Why is a PRO or NARI membership important?” Let’s explore the many reasons why our being an association member is important to you.
Quality Remodelers
Both PRO and NARI are not-for-profit trade associations that represent professional remodelers, contractors, product manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, utilities, lenders, and trade publications. For more than 50 years NARI has proven its commitment to enhancing professionalism within the remodeling industry and serving as an ally to the homeowner. PRO has adopted many of the NARI requirements and added a few of its own. Because of stringent membership requirements, you can be assured of the quality of work in the remodeler you choose if they are members of a professional organization.
Code of Ethics
Every member is required to take the pledge to uphold the association’s strict Code of Ethics, and demonstrate their dedication to the professionalism and integrity of the remodeling industry. You know you are dealing with someone you can trust.
Core Values
As part of the Code of Ethics, the core values include:
- Professional: Members must be ethical and honest, and commit to high standards
- Open: Members must be diverse and respectful, inclusive of a variety of views, and dedicated to free expression.
- Progressive: Members must be informed and knowledgeable; resourceful and flexible.
- Member Focused: Members focus on the importance of success, return on investment and helping others.
It is not unusual to find association members from across the United States sharing their stories of success and failure in order to further the industry and help each other’s businesses grow. Lifelong partnerships and friendships develop from collaboration.
Recognition and Awards
Both PRO and NARI make it a point to recognize the best in the industry with yearly awards, given in a wide variety of categories from bathroom remodeling to whole house remodels. Winning a remodeling award shows that this company’s work is the “best of the best,” and members are proud to promote their wins. A lot of hard work goes into the creativity, design and construction of these projects, and into the application process itself. Awards are given at the Local, Regional and National Level. We’ve consistently won these awards year after year and our homeowners are proud to tell everyone that their home is an award-winner!
PRO and NARI also have a set of personal awards offered to those in the industry who have gone “above and beyond” to excel in their business and support the association and the industry itself. Schroeder Design/Build was proud to receive TWO of the 10 personal achievement awards from NARI for 2020. You can see their actual award entries here:
This was the first time in NARI history that a mother/son or two members of the same family were winners of achievement awards in the same year!
Why Our Being a PRO or NARI Member is Important to You
The biggest reason it is important for Schroeder to be a PRO and NARI member is to take advantage of the vast resources the associations offer for knowledge and training in the remodeling industry. Our company attends many member trainings and educational programs, seminars and conferences; we update ourselves through publications and news releases; and we earn credits on specific topics that help both our professionalism and knowledge base. For you, this means that we are up to date on the latest technology, laws, regulations, products, and more.
Schroeder Design/Build joined NARI in 1987, and has been heavily involved in the association since the first day. Thirty-five years later, our company is often called upon to help mentor others and to serve as judges for the annual contests. PRO was formed in 2021 and we joined immediately.
