Bathroom Remodel
Remodeling Need
The original bathroom in the house didn’t align with the homeowners’ desired aesthetic. It was outdated, unappealing, and reflected a style from the early 2000s.
Having experienced the exceptional service of Schroeder Design Build in the past, they turned to us once again to find a creative remodeling solution for their outdated bathroom.
Design Solution
Working within the existing footprint, we got rid of the corner tub and removed the wall between the water closet and tub. To increase the size of the shower, we moved its location to the window side and re-laid it to have a low threshold and no door. To create a spacious and open space, we designed a ¾ shower wall with 3/8 glass paneling. The shower was thoughtfully designed with custom bench seating and beautiful Calcutta Marvel Matte porcelain tile, adding both functionality and beauty to the space.
The floors are laid in a Gray Stone Matte Field Marvel floor, offset on diagonal in parallel to the shower curb.
The bathroom now features elegant Athens Gray polished vanity cabinets complemented by white Avenza Honed pental quartz countertops with dual undermount sink cutouts. To enhance functionality and style, we installed new medicine cabinets with mirrors, as well as upgraded faucets and lighting fixtures.
The window was replaced with a double hung, twin window, with acid etched glass on the bottom sash and clear glass on the top sash.
Challenges
The existing corner tub posed several challenges with its large tiled deck, an archway with windows behind it, and a lack of convenient steps for access. The standing shower was small and difficult to reach, contributing to an overall unfavorable layout.
Result
The previously dated primary bathroom has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a stunning and practical living space that caters to the homeowners’ daily needs and ensures their comfort and convenience.
