Home Addition & Kitchen Remodel
Remodeling Need
Built in 1966, this split foyer-style home was in desperate need of a makeover. The upper level of the split-foyer floor plan, which contained the main living spaces — living room, dining room, bedrooms and kitchen — lacked sufficient space to entertain.
During our initial meetings, which were conducted virtually as a result of the pandemic, we learned that the homeowners had established an initial budget with visions of expanding their kitchen and dining room and adding a new deck and powder room. Schroeder’s design team got to work rethinking the floor plan to come up with a cost-effective way to deliver the results they were looking for. We delivered multiple design options with three separate scope of work estimates—each creatively maximizing the client’s lifestyle value and stretching their budget.
Design Solution
To save costs, we reused the existing cabinets and tracked down the original cabinet manufacturer to order additional matching cabinets. Beyond the modern kitchen upgrades, the dining and living room areas were opened up to extend to the back deck, bringing the outdoors indoors.
The kitchen and dining areas were opened up, designed to accommodate large parties. It now includes a massive 12’ 360-degree buffet style kitchen island, open floor plan, and outdoor patio.
